So, I get laid off and today I just found out I have a mandatory 3 fucking hour session I have to sit through to get my stupid unemployment. sigh.....
I am becoming increasingly despondent, achy, tired....I think I am depressed. I want some good news damnit!
Anyway, I was on my way to my car and I ran into this guy who was skating through these barriers and I had to get a photo because he was landing on his board every time! He was stoked and so was I......
Okay, I know its self portrait Thursday so here is a shot of me with the awesome new bag on my arm,
Well here is my self portrait for yesterday......
I took a bunch of pictures yesterday.
Here are some of the items I have been working on with the silkscreen..
I have been working on the pattern for the shorter cabled mitts......
Well then.....
But I do feel good knowing that Iraq has her..maybe some of her lovely spirit will rub off on the desert sands and fall into the eyes of all the people suffering there.
See you soon beautiful dancer, style maven, funny girl!
I love you.
Aug. 20th, or Aug, 18th.
For instance, Vin gets sentenced on the 20th, my work is starting meetings on the 20th.
We have been waiting to start our Kitchen remodel...it will be around the 20th.
I just have a feeling that after the 20th things are going to get really busy. The presidential election is going to be in full swing...already the shit has been flying (did you happen to see Paris Hilton's little video in response to McCain's ad? Funny shit).
Anyway, this is what I have been thinking lately.
Here are some new things I have been working on,
Screened:
And, of course, new bags,
There you have it! Aug 20th the shit hits the fan!
Unfortunately, I can't make up my mind. I went back to posting on livejournal. =P
But I'll keep this for reading your entries if that's ok.
I feel soo guilty because I haven't gone to the studio in ages. I really wanted to get some real art (meaning I do it for myself and no one else) done instead of making purses all day. I have been really busy with silkscreen and stencil art...but you would hardly know it because I have basically nothing to show for it, until now....
I finally got all the materials together and went over to Erik and Felicia's house to set up the exposure unit. The hardest part of this whole thing has been getting the images that I want to put on tho screens. I really spent a week on the computer working with photos and clip art. I nearly went blind! Anyway....so Erik and I actually burned some screens. He had a nice idea...using a embroidery hoop and sheer curtain fabric he created a simple but effective inexpensive screen.
It worked out great....
I, on the other hand, struggled with the exposure time and really only got one screen done.
Did I let that stop me? Fuck no..I came home and did it again, and again, and again until I have 3 screens I can actually use.
After I tried out my designs on some fabric I couldn't resist seeing how it would work on a stretched canvas...
I have still been trying to work on my stencil designs too and I finally got this one .....
Oh they are not perfect, not that original either but for once I am making art for MY sake...no one else's.....
Wait till I have some silk screened purses.
On July 23 Gus and I went to Silverton, Oregon to see this man.....
Any chance I get to see him in concert is a joy. He is probably one of the most under rated blues guitarists of all time and I have been listening to him since I was a teenager. Can you believe that he is over SEVENTY years old!!? He doesn't look a day over forty. I am proud to say that I have introduced him to many of my friends whom have never even heard of him and they thank me for it.
The concert was billed as George Thorogood/Buddy Guy. I thought for sure that George Thorogood would play first but (ouch) not to be. See what I tell you about Buddy being underrated? Not to dis George or anything but Buddy just blew him out of the water! I know that Buddy really doesn't care who goes first because when he plays you can just feel the joy that he has and admiration for his fans. He always jumps off stage and walks through the crowd because I know that he so much enjoys playing for us and making us feel good. He has a new CD out called "Skin Deep" and he sang the title song at the concert. It says it all.
